2025 President's Wrap-Up

As this year comes to a close, it’s commonplace to look back on how we spent our time as an organization, where we succeeded, where we came up short, and where we are still learning and growing. Reflection is a time for appreciation and goal-setting, and there’s plenty of room for both when we look at 2025. I think we have all learned in challenging times to reframe what it means to have success legislatively and in the realm of political wins, and this mindset will continue to inform our goals as we look to cement our priorities in 2026. We will never stop advocating for our profession, for our patients, and for the citizens of Kentucky. Psychologists can occupy a seat at the table and continue to make our presence known as experts in psychological science. We have something to contribute to the world, and the world needs that perspective now more than ever! We are so excited to re-launch our Leadership Academy, an opportunity for psychologists and psychologists-in-training to receive mentorship, education, and opportunities to develop leadership skills to improve themselves and their organizations. This wouldn’t have been possible without the vision of KPA Board Member Dr. Demi Lincoln, who saw it as a need, and worked to advocate for the relaunch. Shaping the next group of psychology leaders will allow us to grow the profession, the organization, and make an even bigger impact in our state. The KPA Board has a deep appreciation for your membership in the organization. Supporting psychologists in Kentucky is why KPA exists, and we feel proud that you continue to choose KPA to be your source of information, support, and advocacy. As we continue to work toward solutions for the issues psychologists face in our state, thank you for putting your trust in us to help move the needle for our profession. On a personal note, thank you for allowing me to serve as your President this year. It’s been an honor and a privilege to represent you and our profession, and have the opportunity to share with state associations across the country all of the things that make this organization what it is; the “Most Outstanding SPTA” in the country in 2025.
