Introducing KPF’s Nonprofit Wellness InitiativeCourtney Keim, KPF President and Sarah Burress, KPF & KPA Director of OperationsWe are thrilled to unveil KPF’s new program the Nonprofit Wellness Initiative (NPWI), designed to support and uplift the nonprofit sector across the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and specifically tailored to address the well-being of nonprofit leaders and their dedicated staff members. At the heart of the NPWI is a recognition of the invaluable contributions made by nonprofit organizations in our communities. These organizations, driven by passion and purpose, tackle some of society's most pressing issues, from healthcare to education, social justice, and beyond. However, this dedication often comes at a cost, with nonprofit professionals facing unique challenges and stressors that can lead to burnout and fatigue. This semester, KPF is partnering with students from Bellarmine University's Organizational Behavior and Leadership course to create a suite of resources, tools, and support systems aimed at promoting well-being and resilience within the nonprofit workforce. These resources will live on the KPF website, freely accessible to nonprofits across Kentucky. On May 1st, KPF will have the opportunity to view the work that is being developed by these future leaders. We are excited to see what they create, and look forward to sharing those details with KPA Members at the end of the term. The Nonprofit Wellness Initiative is a testament to KPF’s commitment to supporting the incredible work being done by nonprofits through the application of the science of psychology to workplaces . We believe that by investing in the well-being of nonprofit professionals, we can strengthen the entire sector and, in turn, foster more resilient and vibrant communities. Sarah has worked on staff for KPA and KPF for 16 years and Courtney has served on the KPF Board for 12 years. As people who are in and supporting the nonprofit workforce, we are not only passionate about psychological health and wellness but also inspired by the actions taken by KPA and KPF post-pandemic to address burnout in our own organization. We want to ensure that all nonprofit organizations have access to the psychological science behind workplace wellness, and to benefit, as KPF staff have, from the expertise of our psychology community. We invite all KPA Members, nonprofit leaders, and staff, and stakeholders from across the Commonwealth to join us in this important initiative. You can support us financially by making a tax-deductible donation at www.kentuckypsychologicalfoundation.org/donate. If you have interest in this work and would like to get involved, email Sarah at [email protected]. Please stay tuned for more updates on the Nonprofit Wellness Initiative as we work towards its official launch. Thank you for your support! |
