Exposing patients overtime to stressful body image and food-related stimu li can assist them to gain more control over their fears and any dysfunctio nal eating behaviors they experience. Alexandria Pruitt, Psy.D. - Assistant Clinical Director of Eating Disorders
Dr. Alexandria “Alex” Pruitt is a licensed clinical ps ychologist who has committed her training and practice to helping children, adolescents, and families navigate psychological diagnoses compounded by m edical complications. She graduated with a doctorate in Pediatric Psycholog y from Spalding University in 2014 and completed her clinical internship at Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her fellowship training focused on the treatment of all eating disorders a t The Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt where she provided both inpatient and partial hospitalization level of care.Dr. Alex has experienc e with the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, pediatric obesity, diab etes management, Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, Anorexia Nervos a, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, chronic pain or illness and fati gue syndromes, as well as trauma. Her specialty training allows her to work with children as young as 3 years old. She delivers evidence-based treatme nts to individuals, groups, and families in a compassionate and solution fo cused manner. Dr. Alex leads a perfectionism group, a body image group, and an adolescent support group.
Street Russell, Psy.D. - Associate Director of the Behavioral W
ellness Clinic
< strong>Dr. Street Russell is a Licensed Psychologist and Associate Director of the Behavioral Wellness Clinic. As a health service provider o f psychology (HSPP), he supervises and trains doctoral students and other c linical trainees. Additionally, he is a clinical preceptor for the Universi ty of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine. He earned his Psy .D. at Spalding University in 2016, with an emphasis in coursework on healt h psychology. He completed an internship at the Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical C enter in Topeka, Kansas, and a post-doctoral fellowship at the Behavioral W ellness Clinic. His dissertation research involved the assessment of indivi duals with a cancer of the head and neck.Dr. Street Russell works with chil dren, families, and adults with eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and avoidant restrictive food intak e disorder. He is also expert in treating OCD & OCD-related disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and social anxiety. He is trained in providing evidence-based treatment for all the above-mentioned conditions including, but not limited to, exposure with response prevention (Ex/RP), f amily-based therapy for anorexia nervosa, CBT for eating disorders, cogniti ve processing therapy (CPT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). H e continues to receive regular consultation and training in the treatment o f eating disorders from Clinical Director Cheri Levinson, Ph.D. He is appro ved to provide continued education training to other professionals in the t reatment of OCD and eating disorders.
