Given that supervisors play a critical role in gatekeeping the profession, it is especially important that supervisors have effective tools to support supervisees who are struggling with problems of professional competence. This workshop will help participants navigate common supervisory dilemmas using the Integrative Developmental Model (IDM) approach to clinical supervision. Participants will learn to assess supervisee developmental levels and manage difficult conversations with struggling trainees. Through case examples and discussion, participants will leave with practical strategies to address remediation concerns and foster supervisee growth in a developmentally appropriate way. Skill Level: Intermediate

This workshop fulfills the KRS 319 advanced supervision requirement for KBEP approved supervisors.

Workshop Objectives

Based on the content of this workshop, attendees will be able to...

  • Describe the Integrative Developmental Model of supervision and assess supervisee developmental levels.
  • Identify common supervision challenges and plan for developmentally appropriate interventions.
  • Demonstrate increased confidence in addressing performance concerns through structured, reflective, and culturally responsive feedback.
