Let your voice be heard - this face to face advocacy is critical to KPA’s advocacy work! KPA members are invited to gather in Frankfort to raise awareness among our legislators about important issues affecting mental health and the profession and practice of psychology.

Event Highlights:

You will have the opportunity to...

  • Participate in individual or group meetings with your legislators
  • Meet legislators who have worked closely with KPA
  • Watch committee meetings.
  • Learn more about how the legislative process works and how you can be an effective advocate
  • Help increase awareness among policy-makers about KPA, the science and practice of psychology, and issues that affect psychologists and the Kentuckians we serve

Capitol Annex - Frankfort, KY - 8:30 am – 2:00 pm EST (Time is flexible)
All times are listed in Eastern Standard Time

  • 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM:  Room 169
  • 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM: Cafeteria - Annex Basement, 
  • 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM: Rm 131

Schedule for Psychology Day, February 12th:

Important note, please review: In the past, KPA has hosted a breakfast for KPA members and legislators at this event, but we were notified that we are not permitted to bring food into the rooms this year. Please be sure to eat prior to the orientation meeting at 8:30 AM. There are food items for purchase in the Cafeteria that can be found in the basement of the Capital Annex building. 

  • 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Meet for Orientation, Schedule Pick-up, Tips on Legislative talking points (Room 169)
  • 9:00 AM - 1:30 PM: Individual or group meetings with legislators, as available. You will be accompanied by another KPA member experienced with advocacy if desired. KPA members may also attend Committee Meetings. *If you can attend for only part of the day you will be able to specify that on your registration form (9-9:30 Rm 169, 9:30-12 Cafeteria in Annex Basement, 12-1:30 Rm. 131)
  • 1:30 AM - 2:00 PM: Meetings Debrief (Rm 131)

Recommended Training Call before the event - Monday, February 10th - 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm EST

Members attending the event are encouraged to call in to hear more about the talking points, KPA’s Legislative Agenda, up-to-date information on the status of bills we are following, and tips on how to talk to legislators.
