Workshop Details

Presented by Sean Reilley Ph.D., Lindsey Jasinski, Ph.D., Teri Maynard, Psy.D., CBIS and John Scanish, Psy.D.

Cognitive difficulties are associated with a wide variety of clinical disorders in adults who present for treatment. As the population ages, an increasing number of consumers may be at risk for cognitive difficulties and may benefit from cognitive screening and assessment. This workshop provides current clinical information regarding: cognitive difficulties common in clinical disorders in adults, an overview of brief and more detailed cognitive screening measures that extend well beyond the Mini-Mental Status Exam, and resources for adults who may screen positive for cognitive dysfunction. Skill Level: Intermediate/Advanced

Workshop Objectives

  • Understand the types of cognitive problems associated with a variety of clinical disorders in adults for which cognitive screening can be helpful.
  • Identify and understand a variety of brief cognitive screening measures (e.g., MMSE-2, MocA, BCSE, Mini-Cog) and their utility and limitations for cognitive screening of adults.
  • Identify and understand a variety of more detailed cognitive screening measures (e.g., Cognistat, DMS-2, RBANS) and their utility and limitations for cognitive screening of adults.
  • Understand available resources and supports for adults who screen positive for cognitive dysfunction.
