The training is designed to teach psychologists about what drives burnout, recognizing the signs and symptoms of burnout, and implementing practices that foster healthy and engaged professionals. The training will use a traumatic stress framework, teaching participants about recognizing signs and symptoms of burnout, facilitating the completion of physiological stress response cycles, self-compassion and contextual awareness, and emphasizing responsiveness through self-care including observing limits. Skill level: Intermediate

Workshop Objectives

Based on the content of this workshop, participants will be able to...

  • Describe the transactional nature of job stress and employee burnout.
  • Identify three personalized early warning signs of burnout.
  • Describe two strategies for completing the physiological stress response cycle.
  • List three actions they will take to further cultivate personal resilience and wellbeing.

About the Presenter

Noga Zerubavel, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and co-founder of Arise Psychological Wellness and Consulting. She is also an Assistant Consulting Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University School of Medicine, where she is involved in clinical education and research. Dr. Zerubavel received her Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Miami in Ohio and completed her internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Duke. She is the former director of the Stress, Trauma, and Recovery Treatment (START) Clinic at Duke, where she developed and led a trauma consultation team and supervised psychiatry residents and clinical psychology graduate students, predoctoral interns, and postdoctoral fellows in trauma-informed psychotherapy. Dr. Zerubavel is active in providing trainings for mental health providers, social service administrators, as well as physicians and other health care providers. She has expertise in organizational development of trauma-informed practices with an emphasis on addressing burnout and enhancing wellness and resilience. She specializes in treatment of trauma survivors using empirically supported treatments, with an emphasis on contemporary CBTs and mindfulness-based psychotherapy.

Event Location
Virtual - via Zoom, attendees will receive instructions on accessing this workshop upon registration.

It is important to note that APA continuing education rules require that KPA only give credit to those who attend the entire workshop.  An evaluation of the workshop must be completed. Those who sign in more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time or leave before the workshop is completed will not receive CE credit. Partial credit may not be given.
