This workshop will describe the basic principles on which Dialectical Behavior Therapy is based, including the underlying theory and main modes of treatment.  In addition, the content of the skills training component will be reviewed. Please note: This is a 3-part series but attendees are not required to register for all three parts. Separate CE certificates will be awarded for each individual part of the series.

Workshop Objectives

Based on the content of this workshop, attendees will be able to...

• Describe the role of individual therapy in DBT, including the 4 main techniques employed.
• Discuss several adjustments necessary for practicing DBT with LGBTQ+ participants.

About the Presenter

Martha Wetter, Ph.D., received her doctorate from the University of KY in clinical psychology and currently works in a private practice in Lexington directing a DBT program.  She is a Linehan-certified DBT therapist and does workshops and consultations with various organizations on trauma-informed care and DBT.  She is on the Board of the Life Activities Center, a trauma-informed recreational program in Woodford Co. KY.

Virtual - via Zoom, attendees will receive instructions on accessing this workshop upon registration.

It is important to note that APA continuing education rules require that KPA only give credit to those who attend the entire workshop.  An evaluation of the workshop must be completed. Those who sign in more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time or leave before the workshop is completed will not receive CE credit. Partial credit may not be given.
