2022 KPA Annual Convention - Attendee Guide

To ensure all of our attendees have access to all the information they may need during Convention, KPA has compiled a variety of helpful information both in-person and virtual attendees can use to navigate our first hybrid Convention.

This guide will touch on:

It is imperative that all attendees, both in-person and virtual, have and utilize Whova.

The Whova App allows attendees to easily:

  • View workshop listings and times.
  • Keep up with event announcements and engage with other attendees.
  • Access workshop handouts, presentations, and resources.
  • Access the floor map to easily locate workshop rooms and special events.
  • Receive and fill out course evaluations to receive continuing education certificates and credits

In-Person Attendee Guide:

Location:

The Seelbach is located at 400 South Fourth Street in downtown Louisville, KY 40202.  Driving directions to the hotel can be found by clicking here

Event Floor Map:

KPA has pinned the location and room of each workshop, lunch, and social event on a floor map within Whova - attendees can access this by logging into Whova and selecting 'Resources' from the left-hand sides menu bar, and then selecting 'floor map' from the menu drop-down.

Workshop Attendance:

Attendees are required to check into each workshop they attend - staff and volunteers will be available for attendee check-in at the entrance of all workshop locations. Checking in is vital and ensures attendees receive course evaluations and CE certificates, failure to check in to workshops will prolong the time it takes to process attendees continuing education credits.

WiFi Access:

Attendees can access WiFi by selecting the network named 'Hilton Honors Meeting Network'.

Parking:

Onsite parking is available, and recommended, in the multi-use parking garage next to the Seelbach located at  523 South Fifth Street Louisville, KY 40202.  There are multiple ways to enter this parking garage outlined below. Entering the hotel through the parking garage will put you directly into the area the convention will be held in. **Please remember to hold onto your parking ticket - in order to have your parking validated attendees will exchange the ticket received when entering the garage for a validated ticket the KPA Convention registration desk will have.  Please remember to exchange your ticket at the registration desk before you leave.

Parking Garage entrances can be found on:
  • Fifth Street between Chestnut and Muhammad Ali Boulevard
  • Tunnel from Muhammad Ali Boulevard between 4th and 5th Street
  • Alley from Chestnut Street - please note the low Clearance Height: 6'1'' in this entrance.

Electronics:

Due to limited outlet availability for attendees within workshop rooms, KPA is asking that you please come with any devices you may need fully charged

Restaurants Nearby:

KPA recommends that those parked in the parking garage stay nearby during lunch breaks - We will only be validating parking for the day once per attendee. Additionally, we cannot guarantee there will be space in the garage when you return. Below you'll find a list of restaurants we've compiled that are all within a very short walking distance.

  • Mi Casita on 4th – next door to the Seelbach at 520 S. Fourth Street
  • Abyssinia Ethiopian Restaurant and Bar - 554 S 5th St
  • Manhattan Grill - 429 W Muhammad Ali Blvd # 100
  • Pizza Bar - Fourth Street Live!
  • Gordon Biersch - Fourth Street Live!

 Virtual Attendee Guide:

As mentioned above it is vital that attendees have the Whova App downloaded or the link to the browser page. For those that have not used Whova before KPA recommends downloading and becoming familiar with the application a few days prior to Convention. Virtual attendees will use Whova to:

  • Access their Workshop Agenda
  • Access the links to their live-streamed webinars.
  • Access Workshop Handouts and PowerPoints
  • Receive attendance verification links to verify attendance and ensure they receive CE credit for attended courses.
  • Engage with speakers and Convention attendees.

Course Evaluation and CE Certificate Process:

In-Person Attendees:

To receive continuing education certificates in-person attendees must complete a course evaluation for each workshop they attend. Evaluations will be sent out at the end of workshops through the Whova apps announcement feature – attendees will be notified through the app and via email with instructions and should access their course evaluations with the link provided in the body of the announcement. Once attendees submit their course evaluations, they will automatically receive a copy of their CE certificate via email.

Virtual Attendees:

Approximately 15 minutes prior to the end of each virtual workshop attendees will receive an announcement via Whova and email containing a link to the workshop’s attendance verification. Attendees will enter the corresponding workshop code22 (example: T0122) to verify attendance. Moderators will also announce the code and place it within the Whova chat to ensure all attendees are aware– once attendance is verified attendees will be automatically forwarded on to the evaluation of the workshop. Upon submitting the course evaluation attendees will receive a copy of their CE certificate via email. Please remember a course evaluation must be completed to receive your certificate.
